Ethnic minorities in Albania, including representatives from the Macedonian ethnic group, met with Foreign Affairs Minister Ditmir Bushati on Friday, to discuss the Council of Europe recommendations on minority rights.
The goal of the meeting was to improve dialogue between the ethnic group representatives and hear about the views of the Council of Europe on the rights of the ethnic groups in Albania.
During the meeting, Minister Bushati said that the Albanian Government has a will to improve its cooperation with the ethnic groups, and to discuss resolving their issues, as well as to improve and support activities to protect and maintain their cultural and linguistic identities.
Albania needs to take steps, according to the international obligations it has undertaken, and needs to be specific in the protection of minority rights. (Makedonium)
